Robert has been practicing corporate law for over 15 years initially as a sole practitioner and eventually as a founding partner of the boutique business law firm WRD LLP. Based at Toronto’s Centre for Social Innovation (CSI), his work has focused on advising social entrepreneurs and social enterprises as they initiate and grow their organizations. Over the years, Robert has been a guest speaker in a variety of settings at post-secondary institutions on social enterprise law and co-designed startup programming for CSI, the City of Toronto, and Artscape. Early on, he started incorporating the principles of design thinking and creative problem solving into his legal practice in order to better serve his clients. Eventually he founded Courage Co-Lab Inc., which provides standalone creative facilitation services to social impact clients emphasizing problem solving through play. Together with his colleague Tim Hurson, they are the North American Regional Representatives of Pro.Play, a partnership between PlayMobil GmbH, Germany and Actitud Creativa, Spain, whose mission is to help organizations embed innovation and creativity principles and tools into their cultures.
